Erosion and sediment control is field work, not a paperwork exercise. The entrances, perimeter controls, basins, channels, and stabilization have to be installed correctly and maintained as the ground changes.
Our approach is to set the site up at preconstruction, explain how the work will proceed, and then follow that sequence. Jumping ahead may save a day at the start, but it can create inspection and access problems that are difficult to unwind later.

Super silt fence
Chain-link-backed super silt fence and standard silt fence installed to spec along the limits of disturbance to hold sediment on site.
Sediment & stormwater basins

Stabilized entrances
Stabilized stone construction entrances that keep mud off public roads and keep the site compliant at the gate.
Erosion matting & channels
Rock-lined channels, erosion control matting, and slope stabilization on the ground that's most likely to move.
Seeding & stabilization
Straw, seed, and permanent stabilization to lock down disturbed ground and close out the E&S scope.
Ongoing upkeep
Controls checked and maintained as grades, traffic patterns, and exposed areas change through the life of the disturbance.

Grading, basins, pipe, access, and perimeter controls all change how water moves. Because we perform those scopes, our field decisions can account for the whole system instead of one isolated line item.
At Afton, we upgraded the planned perimeter control to reinforced silt fence and maintained the basins, drainage paths, and slopes together.
